Welcom Back Film LLC

Welcome back to UWM for Spring Semester!

This spring LLC students of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres will be taking their second required Film class of Basic Elements of Video (Film 222). The film department at UWM has earned its place as one of the top 20 Film programs in the world through our deep commitment to helping our students pursue their particular creative impulses and expand their curiosity. Exciting Events to come:

February: 
Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival Monthly Screening: Wildness
Thu, February 21, 7pm – 9pm Union Theater
"Wildness" is a documentary portrait of the Silver Platter, a historic Los Angeles bar/haven for Latin/LGBT immigrant communities since 1963, and a chronicle of what happens when a group of young artists (director Tsang among them) stage a weekly performance/dance party there

24 hour Contest. Students will have 24 hours to complete a short film that incorporates an array of rules and specifications. The short films will be featured in early March and will be awarded trophy's by audience vote.

March:  
Visit to the Arts and Craft Center. We will create a special craft in the the Arts and Center.

April:  
LLC Spring Arts Exposition. An event to showcase the creative work of our LLC students. Together we will create a dynamic and cross-disciplinary exhibition that includes music, film, dance and art and design. This will be a "grassroots" event, meaning it is for the students by the students. The event will take place in the main shared space of Cambridge Commons Residence Hall.

There will be an array of events to assist students with their academics, time-management skills and social events, as well as movie marathons and film festivals available in Milwaukee.
