Signing, Dining, and Coffee

Are you looking for a place to go and meet others who use ASL?  Check out these two events that will help you improve those ASL skills and meet new people!

Sign and Dine

If you want to better your ASL skills and practice signing more, you should consider sitting in Denmark Lounge.  Denmark Lounge is located on the first floor in Enderis Hall right here at UWM.  Monday through Thursday from noon to 3:00 pm, is “Sign and Dine.”  For “Sign and Dine” ASL students as well as Deaf students come together to chat using ASL.  So grab some lunch (or bring your own) and join the fun!

Deaf Coffee Chat

If you want to meet more people outside of UWM, you might consider going to Deaf Coffee Chat.  Deaf Coffee Chat is every second and fourth Friday of each month.  This event takes place at Starbucks at 544 E Odgen Ave., Milwaukee WI.  If you take the 30 Bus from UWM and get off at Jackson and Odgen, you will be right across the street from Starbucks.  This event is a ton of fun and you are sure to meet new people.  You learn new signs each time you go because people from all different background attend this event and share their experiences and stories.  It’s a sure way to have fun and enjoy some coffee at the same time!
