UWM offers many different opportunities to get involved. One of my favorite ways to stay involved is serving breakfast at The Gathering on Fridays with the Center for Community- Based Learning, Leadership, and Research(CCBLLR). The Gathering is a Milwaukee based meal organization that serves the low income and homeless population of Milwaukee. On Friday mornings, CCBLLR provides transportation to The Gathering for students who want to volunteer and have signed up ahead of time. At The Gathering, volunteers prepare and serve food. During this experience volunteers are able to interact with the low income and homeless population, this is a different experience for most students who go.
The Gathering is a very rewarding and fun experience that allows students to interact and meet other students as well as interact with the greater Milwaukee community.
