ASL Stays Busy!

This month, the ASL LLC had two really fun events! First, we went to WaterTower View - a senior citizen residential community with a strong deaf community - and we made crafts with the residents that live there. The LLC students made some fall art with the residents of the community. We made tree paintings with changing leaf colors using q-tips! It was a unique experience that everybody loved. We also had our ASL instructor, Erin Wiggins, join us in the fun we had there. We are looking forward to doing another event like this one, hopefully in the Spring Semester, as everybody enjoyed the visit and craft time. We had a great turn out at that event, too, despite there being a Packer game at the same time! Here are a couple pictures of us:

The other event that our community had was a dinner with some instructors from our ASL Department; Marika, Erin, Teresa, and Jen Hayes (the adviser for the ASL Programs) all joined us in the Sandburg Cafe to grab some dinner and discuss what is happening in the deaf community and how our residents are feeling now that they have had some experience with ASL classes at UWM.
Now that the semester is wrapping up, though, we are gearing more towards finals in the LLC and are focusing the rest of the semester on making sure we get all of our projects and studying done, while still having some fun in the community. I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season and we'll see you next semester!
