Hello from the Social Welfare LLC!

Greetings!

Can you believe there is only one month left in the semester? Time has surely flown by this year! Some of our LLC members are already starting to study for finals and even thinking about moving items home as the school year draws to a close.

The last few weeks have been pretty quiet, and not too many things have been going on. However, in the coming weeks we have lots of great things planned. First, and what I'm most excited about, is our upcoming stress relief event. In order to get ready for finals and relieve stress, we will be popping sheets of bubble wrap all around our community! Residents will have a chance to pop bubbles and leave with other helpful tips of how to handle the stress of finals! On top of that, we will be taking a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum as a way to wrap up our year together.

Check back in a few weeks to find pictures and quick note about how all of our end of the year fun went!

Until next time,

RA Shelbey

Transfer Community Update

Greetings from the Transfer Community! It hasn't been a very busy month in the LLC, but we have finalized plans for the Chicago trip!

On Saturday, April 25th, we will be going to the Shedd Aquarium in the morning and Millennium Park in the afternoon. We will be leaving at 8am and will be returning around 5pm. This is FREE to all LLC members. Sign up with RA Anna or RA Brianna ASAP if you would like to attend!

As we approach the end of the year, keep and eye open for signs about closing house meetings. This meeting will be mandatory for all residents. We will be going over important information regarding move outs next month.

Business Panthers

The Business Panthers have been very busy this semester! The LLC had an event at the beginning of March where students were able to help each other on their homework. They were able to collaborate on Business Homework and other types of homework they had. The event also gave them time to study with each other for future exams.

There are numerous events ahead for the Business Panthers, most notably, the LLC Chicago Trip on April 25th. Students will be travelling to the Windy City to take a tour of Macy's and explore Millennium Park. The Macy's tour will consist of a fun, fast and fact-filled store tour. They will Learn how Macy’s has grown into America’s largest department store with over 800 locations from its humble beginnings, over 150 years. Our knowledgeable tour guides can cater to different group sizes and age groups as they discuss history, marketing concepts, merchandising, visual techniques, and more. The second tour will be a fun and exciting adventure through Millennium Park were residents can witness and explore the parks artistic beauty.

Keep checking in for more updates on the Business Panther's plans!

Art and Design LLC - Looking to the End of the Semester

Hello everyone!

I can't believe there's only about a month left of school! Things are moving right along for the Art and Design LLC and students are as busy as ever!

On Friday, March 27th, future students got a glimpse into LLC life during the Go Milwaukee! event. Current Art and Design LLC students shared some of their experiences from the year, which was very insightful for our visitors. We will have another Go Milwaukee! event this upcoming Saturday, April 18th, which I'm sure will also be a big success!

Perhaps most importantly, students showed their work at the First Year Experience Exhibition at the Union Art Gallery from April 3rd to April 10th. At the closing reception on April 10th, several Art and Design LLC residents were awarded with scholarships! Congrats, everyone!

Here are just a few images from the show:

We still have more exciting events to come throughout the rest of the semester! On April 30th, residents will be visiting the Haggerty Museum. On May 1st, the LLC will be exhibiting their collaborative project in Spaights Plaza outside the Union in the afternoon. There will be a closing reception for the students and their friends/families from 4:30-6pm. Make sure to stop by and see what they have been working so hard on!

Best,

The CQ: Career Quest

The CQ has had a very hectic but fun past month. Our last decorating event was extremely successful; so successful that we ended up winning the February House Challenge! I'm extremely proud of the LLC. Their participation was phenomenal.

In other news, Spring Break came up unbelievably fast and seemed to disappear just as quickly. Right after we returned from Spring Recess, the LLC joined the other two North Tower LLCs (JAMS and Education/Service Learning) for a Buck's game/ Facilities Tour. Every one who went seemed to have a blast!

Here's a pic of us right inside the BMO Harris Bradley Center before our tour:

The LLC has also been participating in GO Milwaukee (an outreach program for possible future UWM students). The LLC residents have been very welcoming and friendly towards the prospective students. We're all looking forward for the next GO Milwaukee session.

Some upcoming events that the LLC is looking forward too:

-Milwaukee Public Museum Trip
-Another decorating event
- Possible Scavenger Hunt for the upcoming Majors Fair
