The Architecture Sustainability LLC is Back and Ready for an Exciting Year!

Welcome! The Fall 2016 Architecture Sustainability LLC is off to a great start!  RA Katy and Peer Mentors Emmy and J.P. are working hard to make sure the students are getting involved here at UWM their first year.  One of the big events the architecture LLC students took part in this past month was the AIAS Annual Sandcastle Building Competition on Bradford Beach.  The event consisted of various groups of UWM staff and students that were tasked with building the most intuitive, unique, and creative sandcastles within a given time frame.  The LLC’s hard work and valiant efforts were rewarded with the sought after 2nd place design trophy that is now displayed in the lobby of Cambridge Commons.  This is the third year the Architecture LLC has earned a trophy for this competition.  We are proud to have such a creative freshmen class.

This semester, there are two Architecture LLC classes that are doing slightly different coursework.  One is focusing on analyzing and understanding site.  This includes site visits, diagram practice, and positioning architecture based on various cultural and environmental aspects.  The other LLC is focusing on using Milwaukee as an Architecture Lab for understanding site, space, and place.  They will be going on many site visits to various places around Milwaukee to expand their architectural knowledge.

As the semester continues, we have many exciting events planned in order to help the students feel like involved individuals in the SARUP community as well as preparing them for their first sophomore studio.  Stay tuned for more exciting news from the Architecture LLC!
