WELCOME BACK

Welcome back transfers! We hope you've had a wonderful winter break! Over the course of the break, the transfer LLC has had a major change. RA Anna joined the team on floor 17 and 18! If you see her stop by and say "hello!"

Hey All! I am the new Transfer LLC RA for South Tower 17/18! My name is Anna Crow, I am a senior who will be graduating in May with a degree in Community Engagement and Education.  I also just got back from a semester abroad in Birmingham, England. Previously, I was an RA for two years in Cambridge Commons and West Tower for the Social Justice, Diversity, and Pride LLC.  I am very excited to get to know everyone and get started on a great semester!

We thank everyone who attended the welcome back meeting and social! We hope you all enjoyed the food and would like your feedback! Let either RA Anna or RA Brianna know your thoughts on the social or if you have any questions for the semester, do not hesitate to ask!!

Welcome back to the Engineering LLC

Hello all, and welcome back!  I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break - I know I did.  I also hope that you're all ready for another exciting semester.  Last year in the Spring Semester, we took a trip as an LLC to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and we're currently working on planning a trip for this year.  If you have any recommendations on cool engineering places to visit, feel free to give us your input!  We're also looking forward to putting on several new programs this semester, such as a trip to Miller Park with a behind the scenes look at the retractable roof.  Keep an eye out for emails and posters related to our upcoming events.

Also, I know the Engineering Olympics ended some time ago, but since this is the first blog post since those took place, I'd like to give a shout out to our winners this year.
1st place: Brian Schafer
2nd place: Sebastian Marki and Andrew Lascelle
3rd place: Tyler Schommer and Shawn  Anderson
Congrats to our winners and thanks to all of you who participated.

This year, the first challenge was to build a water clock using paper and tape.
The second challenge was to build as tall of a tower as possible that could still support a specified weight.
The third challenge was to build a boat out of paper, tape, and a few straws and popsicle sticks that would float with as much weight in it as possible.
The final and championship challenge was building a bridge out of marshmallows, straws, and a small amount of string that could support as much weight as possible.

From all of us in the Engineering LLC - welcome back.  We're looking forward to another great semester with you!

Greetings in 2015 from the Health Professions LLC -+

Hello All,

We are more than thrilled to be back to work in the LLC and residents are thrilled as well! This month will be quite the spetacle for the entire LLC. Last semester, we ended our events with a little bit of  love given to the residents. We shared 101 health tips along with a healthy care package.

This semester we will be starting the LLC up with a bang! To show our support and appreciation for the students, we have invited Professor Collin Scanes and Professor Andrew Petto to come to Riverview. These professors teach many the students within the LLC, specifically, they teach Anatomy and Physiology I (Dr. Petto) and Anatomy and Physiology II (Dr. Scanes). The residents that partake in this event will have a personal opportunity to ask questions and gain tips regarding case studies, take-homes, and upcoming exams.

For a view into the new year, we have a couple of events that will be helpful to our residents. We are having two professionals from Nursing, Robin Jens and Ebony Cobb, to give residents helpful tips for applying to the Nursing program at UWM. The LLC is also looking to host a small panel of health professionals that work in the fields most of our residents are studying. This event will be within the next month or so. There will also be a big trip coming up that the LLC residents will not want to miss! LLC Residents will have another great opportunity to spend the day with us in Chicago.

On top of these events, more programming has been added to the agenda for the Health Professions LLC that we are very excited about and hope to share soon!

Until next time,

RA Clinton and RA Sydney

Spring 2015!

Hello!

Although it's still bitter cold outside, things will be heating up in the S'MORE LLC this semester. We have some programs planned, including an event tonight with the Peer Health Educators. We are also collaborating with other campus offices to put on an East Tower and Purin Hall-wide Etiquette Dinner event.

We are working on a large-scale trip for the LLC that will be happening this spring as well! The wheels have already begun to turn! We are looking forward to some great events this semester, a wonderful end-of-the year trip, and some volunteer work within the community. Until next time...

Talk to you all soon!
