Student Signing Association

A great on campus organization for ASL students, is SSA (Signing Student Association).  They put on events throughout the year where Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and ASL students can go to communicate and hang out.  This is a great way to meet other people who are learning ASL or are actively involved in the Deaf Community!  Some of the various events that have taken place this year include: Sign N’ Snack, rock climbing, ice skating, and Deaf Day.

SSA is a student run organization.  There biggest event every year is Deaf Day which is a great cultural awareness event for Deaf Culture and the Deaf community.  This event brings in presenters that are actively involved in the Deaf Community and you really get a feel for what Deaf culture is and how much it is valued within the Deaf Community.  You can check out upcoming events on SSA’s Facebook group page “SSA (Signing Student Association).”  Go check out SSA, and come to an event!  It’s great fun!
