A little bit about...Leah Schreiber Johnson!

    Leah Schreiber Johnson

Leah received her BFA from Illinois State University, and her MFA from UWM. She has received multiple awards, been an artist in residence, and has even shown her work internationally.

She currently lives and teaches in Milwaukee at UWM. She teaches 2D and 3D concepts with Peck School of the Arts Living Learning Communities.

Being Leah's student last year, I can tell you many great things she can do for you. She always wants her students to succeed, and she is willing to put in the effort to help you do just that. She will answer your questions, take extra time to help you, and truly cares about her students, both in and outside of the classroom.

Never be afraid to ask for her help or opinion, ask all your "stupid" questions, and listen to what she has to say. She knows how to recognize potential and push you to be the best you can be.

Two of my favorite things I remember doing with Leah last year were the Chicago trip, and the   Riverwest Neighbor project.

Leah and the other LLC teacher, Raoul, took us to Chicago to explore and experience art. We went to the Chicago Institute of Art, to China town, to a hispanic art museum, and of course, Millenium park.

The Riverwest Neighbor project was great because we got to put our art in a public place. Leah helped us to find a community member in Riverwest to interview, paint, and write an article about. We enlarged our paintings and put them on the Beer Line bike trail in Riverwest

And if you get on Leah's good side, she might even nominate you for a scholarship at the end of the year.
