Want to learn American Sign Language?

Hey guys!

There is a student organization named Signing Students Association, or SSA. SSA is a organization that help the students to learn or to master their American Sign Language Skill. They set up events from bowling to rock climbing to guest speakers. This is great way for people who are majoring or minoring in American Sign Language, living with ASL LLC, and any people who is interested in learning ASL! This is a great way to experience what the deaf culture is like. Interpreters will be provided at events.

To be a member of SSA, you need to go to one of the events and pay 18 dollars, 15 dollars if you are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Then from now and on you do not need to pays anything for the events for a year. Not a bad deal. There is Facebook group called SSA (Signing Student Association), so go there and join! This group will be updated with upcoming events and answer any questions. There is also an board at 6th floor of Enderis building. To check it out, from elevator, go right and the board is around the corner.

The next SSA event would be rock climbing on November 3rd. There is a limit for rock climbing, so sign up as soon as possible. To sign up, contact Deborah Ward--wardda@uwm.edu. Otherwise you can still come and socialize. See you guys there!

If you have any questions or want to get more information about SSA--please contact deafday.uwm@gmail.com or Brice Christianson at chris374@uwm.edu
