A really awesome place for new students to check out is the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR). The office's main purpose is the help connect students to facility lead research. OUR opened in 2009 with the goal of getting UWM's undergraduate students involved in the cutting-edge research at UWM.
OUR offers services such as:
- Helping students get connected with a research projects in a variety of fields for things like the natural sciences to arts and everything in-between.
- Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), which pairs students with faculty research mentors for academic credit
- Support for Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) program, which enables faculty research mentors to co-apply with top-performing students to provide an hourly wage for the student's work on a faculty-led research project
- A Summer Research Program for Incoming Students
The office is open Monday-Thursday 9:00am-4:30pm and Fridays 9:00am-3:00pm and is located in Bolton Hall Room 192 ( Right by the doors near the UWM Library). They also have a website (our.uwm.edu) which allows you look current research in need of student help.
